(CRD #5575725, Sugar Land, Texas)
July 2, 2026 – An AWC was issued in which Tran was assessed a deferred fine of $5,000 and suspended from association with any FINRA member in all capacities for nine months. Without admitting or denying the findings, Tran consented to the sanctions and to the entry of findings that she falsified documents and information relating to a customer’s life insurance policy and commingled customer funds with her own.
The findings stated that Tran altered the address associated with the insurance policy in the insurance company’s system from the customer’s address to Tran’s residential address. Tran believed the customer, who she had a personal friendship with and was infrequently in the United States, had concerns that mail relating to the insurance policy was being intercepted and that the address change was consistent with the customer’s intent. However, Tran did not confirm this understanding with the customer.
While residing abroad, the customer obtained loans totaling $14,790 taken against the life insurance policy’s cash value. Tran falsified the loan checks by making them payable to her father, who then signed the checks, and deposited the proceeds into a bank account she jointly owned with her father. Tran subsequently transferred portions of the funds to her personal bank account. Tran believed she was authorized to take these actions to safeguard the funds pending their return to the customer, but she did not confirm this understanding with the customer. Following a complaint by the customer, the insurance company reversed the loans.
The suspension is in effect from July 2, 2026, through April 1, 2027. (FINRA Case #2024084471901)
