(CRD #1959049, Strongsville, Ohio)
April 24, 2026 – An AWC was issued in which James Robert Ptacek Jr. was assessed a deferred fine of $5,000 and suspended from association with any FINRA member in all capacities for 45 days. Without admitting or denying the findings, Ptacek consented to the sanctions and to the entry of findings that he engaged in an outside business activity (OBA) by serving as a member of the board of directors and treasurer for an outside business without providing prior written notice to his member firm. The findings stated that the outside business was a streaming platform that was organized as a for-profit limited liability company. In Ptacek’s roles as a member of the board of directors and treasurer, he was involved with the company’s finances and communicated with certain firm customers who had invested in the company. Ptacek’s involvement in this business activity was outside the scope of his relationship with the firm. Furthermore, Ptacek falsely attested in at least one compliance questionnaire that he was not involved with any undisclosed OBAs. The suspension was in effect from April 24, 2026, through June 7, 2026.
